Now Arrives

I have a full day ahead of me, but these words were playing in my head as I was munching on my morning muffin.

Now arrived today.
I did not recognize her at first.
In the distance I saw a faint figure,
Patiently waiting for her luggage by the carousel,
Methodically lifting suitcase after suitcase off the belt.
All I could think about was this stranger’s luggage fee.
But getting closer, she began to look vaguely familiar to me,
Not quite what I expected from our decades of letters
Or years of blog entries.
But yes, this was indeed Now.
How, I asked myself, do we begin this new conversation?

Clothes Shopping Meditation

Bright lights, full length mirror
Revealing previously unknown scars and frailty
Waves of vulnerability wash over me
Followed by compassion
Help me to be gentle with the fragile flesh

Prelude

Pores breathe, sigh
drink in the cool breeze
of the morning shower
Before the appearance of the hot sun
breath robbing air

Packing for the Library Book Sale

Four leafed and five lobed love letters

Pressed between pages of a 1967 Reader’s Digest Condensed book

"I found magic in the world today.

Hope you found it, too."
