A much beloved man in our community died this weekend after a long bout with dementia. We knew him as someone who was always willing to help us in his roles as handyman and spiritual teacher. Unfortunately, he also had been long estranged from his only surviving child, who lives in another community. From the little we can piece together, we can surmise that he was not a particularly good father. How do you memorialize such a man? This blessing is for his daughter.
May you know that it is okay to have mixed emotions.
May you feel God’s Love and Life healing those places in your heart and soul that feel so broken.
May you remember the good moments you had with your father.
May you know the good he did in the world.
May you, in time, find the strength to forgive him his faults.
May you know you are always a child of God.
